Should historic buildings be "fixed" like the Colosseum?

while historic builings are historic, it is important to keeo them maintained so that everybody gets the chance to see the historic site or builing.

I think “fixing” them is okay, but only to preserve the original state. Completely replacing some aspects of the building erases the history of it.

Historic buildings like the Colosseum should be preserved, but "fixing" them can be tricky. Restoration to prevent decay is necessary, but fully rebuilding them erases their authenticity and historical value. The goal should be to maintain their integrity, showing the passage of time and their stories.

From a personal perspective, as someone who enjoys experiencing artifacts, I understand how important restoration is. Without these efforts, we wouldn’t have the chance to see these incredible structures at all. While I appreciate the raw history in their ruins, I also recognize that some preservation is vital to keep these monuments standing for future generations.

I think some historic buildings, especially ones that are covered in ancient artwork, should be "fixed" because without being restored we would be unable to appreciate the original work. However, I think they should not alter them from their original state, outside of cleaning them or making their image more visible.

I think they should be reinforced for public safety, but at the same time they should be kept in their original state as much as possible.
